# Staking WISE

WISE total supply has 4% fixed annual inflation (offset by burns). 3% rewards stakers, and 1% rewards referrers. Unstaking WISE early is penalized, so staked WISE creates a true supply shock.

## How to Create WISE stakes:

To start a WISE stake, go to our [staking tab](https://app.wisetoken.com/staking) and click the blue "New Stake" button. Advanced stakes are recommended since they are bonded to an NFT that that can be sold, transferred, or borrowed against later on, but the max length for an advanced stake is 10 years, so if you wish to stake for 11-42 years, then create a regular stake.

Remember: Penalties are **high** for unstaking early, so make sure to choose an amount and duration that you don't mind leaving until maturity. Only the bravest of the brave choose 42 years!

## The Share Price System:

The WISE staking contract uses a unique share price system to determine how much of the available WISE inflation you earn relative to other stakers. You can do two things to advantage your stake: stake ***early*** and stake ***longer*****.** Share price only goes up over time, meaning even those who stake *after* you, even if they stake the same amount and duration will earn *less*.

Your stakes will earn higher APY the longer they go untouched, because you will gain relative share power every time other stakes end during your staking period. Long stakes end up earning much more on this fact alone.

Earning is also a factor of how much of the total supply is staked vs in wallets and in our Uniswap pool. Less WISE staked and a large percentage on Uniswap means WISE price is down, but stakers are earning high APY. More WISE staked and less WISE on Uniswap means lower APY, but happy stakers, because WISE price is going up.&#x20;

## Scraping interest on WISE stakes:

Scraping a WISE stake allows you to withdraw your earnings instantly without affecting your principa&#x6C;**, but it carries a penalty that imacts your remaining APY!** When you scrape, it resets the critical compounding advantage gained from staking early, treating your scraped stake as if it just started that day. **Scrape only in emergencies**, because this reset diminishes your future returns for the remainder of the lockup period.

To scrape, click the magnifying glass on the right hand side of your stake.

## Ending a WISE Stake Before Maturity:

You may end your stake any time before maturity, but you will pay a **significant penalty**. The penalty is equivalent to the percentage of remaining time on your stake. For example: a 100 day stake ended on day 30 will cost **70% of your principal** to end...yikes! The penalized WISE gets distributed globally and proportionally among the remaining WISE stakers.

If ending your stake early is *absolutely necessary*, you can end by clicking the red X on the right hand side of your stake..
